
Edward B. DeLozier was born in Osceola, St. Clair County, Missouri on October 28, 1842. He was the third child of Edward Henry DeLozier and Catherine “Kitty” Carlton.
By October 1838, the family had moved to St. Clair County, Missouri. According to the 1850 census Edward was living with his parents, 2 older brothers and 2 younger sisters. On the 1860 census Edward was living in Polk Township, St. Clair Co., Missouri with his father and 9 brothers and sisters.
His first marriage occurred on December 12, 1861 to Martha Jane Daniel
Edward mustered into service in Co. F at Warsaw, Missouri on April 1, 1862. When he enlisted, he was 19 years old, had dark eyes, dark hair, a dark complexion and was 5 feet 6 ¼ inches tall. He listed himself as a farmer. His service records are filed with the spelling of his name as Edward B. Delosier.
I found an indication that he was wounded in the fight at Lone Jack, shot in the face, neck and fractured his right clavicle. and was left at Sedalia on September 2, 1862. The Casualty Sheet reported him as “Mortally wounded”. In January/February of 1863, Edward was still listed as absent in Warsaw, Missouri due to his being wounded at Lone Jack. Edward continued in service through 1863 and 1864, and mustered out of service on March 31, 1865 at Springfield, Missouri.
The 1870 census showed that Edward was living in Henry Co., Missouri with his wife and one child. He listed his occupation as a farmer. Martha died on May 8, 1875. On September 30, 1875 Edward married Mary Catherine Chastain.
On the 1880 census, Edward was living in Leesville Township, Henry Co., Missouri with Mary, two daughters and two sons. He listed himself as farmer. On June 3, 1878, Edward filed for a pension.
The 1900 census shows that Edward, Mary, seven of his children and one daughter-in-law were living in Leesville Township, Henry Co. He is still farming. By 1910, Edward owned his home and was living with Mary, two daughters and one son. In 1920, he, Mary and one grandson are in the home.
Edward died on October 14, 1929 and is buried in the Tebo Cemetery in Leesville. Missouri.
